Cinco de Mayo!
This date, coming up in two days, in the United States, has evolved into an exciting day of celebrating Mexican culture, history and heritage. Many communities celebrate with parades and festivals. Mariachi music may also be performed in public places, including restaurants. (Historically, this date in 1862 celebrates the Mexican army’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War). The month of May also has us celebrating everything from Spring, children and organized labor on the 1st, to Teachers on the 8th, Nurses on the 12th, Mothers on the 13th, and our country’s fallen military men and women on Memorial Day on the 28th. Whether there is a special designation or not, let’s celebrate every day!
